This can be booked as a total package (including flights, accommodation and all transfers) at any High Street travel agent. Alternatively, you can book one of our safaris in Northern Tanzania (Kudu Safaris) and make your own arrangements for flights, transfers and non-safari accommodation.
Is the main city in northern Tanzania with a population of over 250,485 inhabitants. It holds the headquarters of the East African Community and is the city from where all northern safaris commence to Mount Kilimanjaro and the parks of Tarangire, Manyara, Ngorongoro and the Serengeti. The beautiful city sits at the base of the impressive Mount Meru, which rises to over 15,000 ft. Part of this large mountain holds Arusha National Park, which has a wide range of animals and birds as well as forests, plains, lakes and deep craters.
Ascents of Mount Kilimanjaro
TheMarangu Route and Machame Routes are both popular walking ascents of Mount Kilimanjaro. 75% of climbers ascend via the Marangu Route, hence it is also known as the 'tourist route'. Typically the climb lasts 4 nights staying in mountain huts with very simple facilities. The Machame climb is a 5 night tented ascent. The extra night allows more time to acclimatise and increases chances of reaching the summit by 25%. It is possible to add an extra night to the Marangu ascent, normally taken at Horombo Hut.
